I currently work for a scientific company that does a lot of contract work. They are very suspicious and concerned about IT security and are not keen on downloading and using free software from the internet for non power users. Last year I was approaced by the company Controller who described an Excel Add-In she loved to use at her last job but was getting some resistance on installing on her current workstation.
While IT was resistant they ultimately gave in and she got to use her free Excel Add-In. Unfortunately this usefull Add-In probably would not be freely made available to the entire company. After giving the idea some thought I decided to build the exact same Add-In because our IT Department didn't have a problem with installing homegrown Add-Ins and it would add a great deal to the current users productivity.
This page will focus on some handy Microsoft Add-Ins with all the source code for developers who may find themselves in the same boat as I.
